AHC Act could cause over 24 million to lose coverage

By Admin | March 20, 2017

House Republicans have put forward a bill to replace the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare. Known as the American Health Care Act, the bill is predicted to cut the national deficit at the cost of 24 million Americans losing health care coverage.

The Congressional Budget Office, CBO, a nonpartisan group released their findings two days before the House Budget Committee was scheduled to mark up the piece of legislation.

The AHCA, also known as TrumpCare, has already faced opposition from both political parties, various medical organizations, and consumers.

Criticisms include that by the year 2026, 52 million Americans would lack healthcare coverage, the elderly would be disproportionately and unfairly charged, Medicare coverage would fall, and employer coverage would fall.
